Angelokastro Castle

Angelokastro, which is also referred to as the Castle of Angels, is strategically located in the western part of the island, very close to Paleokastritsa and 19 km from Dassia. It is believed to date back to the 13th century and together with the other two Byzantine castles, Kassiopi and Gardiki, they formed the defensive triangle of the island.

Another interesting remnant is an ancient church dedicated to the angels Gabriel and Michael, which is surprisingly constructed in a cave. Comfortable or hiking shoes are recommended when visiting the top of Angelokastro to admire the one of a kind view.
